Healthier Jupiter is entering our fourth year in a five to seven year community-driven initiative. Headquartered at Jupiter Medical Center, Healthier Jupiter works in partnership with the Medical Center to address health and quality of life issues, with an emphasis on diabetes. Healthier Jupiter selected diabetes as its focus because promoting healthy lifestyles can lower the risk of the illness and its complications, as well as reduce the risk of many other chronic diseases. This initiative has four steps: increasing awareness of diabetes risks and healthy lifestyles, helping individuals make healthier food choices, encouraging individuals to become more active, giving individual’s greater access to necessary medical care.
As with any long term initiative, an evaluation framework is important to ongoing monitoring, impact assessment, and learning. To that end Healthier Jupiter provides an Impact Report to the community and our generous funder Palm Healthcare Foundation every six months. This report shares: who we are, why diabetes prevention is a focus, where we have gone so far, key lessons learned, what we have done in the past six months, and next steps in the initiative. We appreciate the continued support.
