Saturday, October, 7th, Healthier Jupiter partnered with Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse Outstanding Natural Area (ONA) for a Walk & Talk. ONA staff guided our group on a walk through the newly opened 1-mile trail on the South-side of the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse Outstanding Natural Area. Along the trail we learned about the area’s rich history, culture and ecology. We caught beautiful views of Jupiter’s waterways and got to see the Jupiter Lighthouse from a unique perspective. We were so motivated we wrapped up the morning by walking the North side trail as well.
The Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse Outstanding Natural Area (ONA) is part of the Bureau of Land Management’s 27-million acre National Landscape Conservation System. Located at the confluence of the Loxahatchee River and Indian River Lagoon, just ¼ mile from the Atlantic Ocean the site has been popular and strategic site of human occupation for the past 5,000 years. ONA staff has worked hard to open the South-side trail last March, and we were happy to partner with them to introduce new people to this amazing space to get active in Jupiter through our monthly Walk & Talk.
Healthier Jupiter Walk & Talk is a free, regular event to promote physical activity and community. These recreationally paced walks combine learning, socializing and exercise. We partner with local educational/cultural/inspirational organizations to provide a more social experience while participating in light exercise. All ages and physical activity levels are welcome to participate.
